Non-structural and structural building applications are reviewed by the Building Department. Applications that require a variance will go before our own Zoning Board and the time frame for zoning board review is approximately one month after denial of your building application.
All new construction or alterations, which are undertaken in the Village of Atlantic Beach, will require a building permit (painting and wall covering only items which do not require a permit). This includes not only structural construction, but also such things as window and door replacements (same size), roofing, fencing, wood decking below 8 ¼”, sidewalks, curbs, aprons, curb cuts – must be installed or replaced per Village specifications. Enclosed storage containers or PODS require a permit. Before starting any work, please call the Village Office for information and come into the Village Office and apply for a permit.
– AN APPLICATION IS NOT A PERMIT TO BUILD –
Any person or corporation who shall violate any of the provisions of our Village Ordinances or fails to comply therewith shall be guilty of a misdemeanor, punishable by a fine.
NOTE: ALL PERMITS MUST BE VISUAL TO INSPECTORS
You cannot operate any power equipment, manual equipment or perform any construction earlier than 8:00 AM on weekdays and earlier than 9:00 AM on Saturday or later than 6:00 PM on and Day.
Operate any power equipment, manul equipment or perform any construction on weekends from Friday before Memorial Day weekend to the Tuesday following Labor day, including Memorial Day, July 4th, Labor Day and all legal holidays throughout the year.
A permit is required for any dumpster – whether placed on street or in driveway – fee for 30 days is $25 or 90 day permit is $50. Please come to the Village Office to fill in an application and obtain a permit. (NOTE: construction debris is not permitted to be picked up with regular garbage – therefore, a dumpster must be obtained).
All dumpsters shall have reflectors and must be covered, when not in use.
