A Letter From The Mayor’s Office
Dear Atlantic Beach Residents:
On May 12, 2025, Anthony Livreri notified me that he was resigning his Atlantic Beach Village Board seat. In these situations, pursuant to Village Law § 3-312, I have the authority to fill the Village Trustee vacancy for the remaining open term. After conferring with the remaining Village Trustees, I am proud to announce that Charles D. Hammerman (Charlie) has accepted the appointment to join the Village Board as a Trustee and as Deputy Mayor of Atlantic Beach.
When offered the opportunity, Charlie humbly accepted and expressed his passion to work on behalf of all the residents in the Village of Atlantic Beach. Charlie’s first public service role was back in the late 1980s when he served as Village Prosecutor for the Village of Atlantic Beach, in the same room he will now serve on the Board! This was followed by Charlie’s serving the Eastern District of New York as an Assistant U.S. Attorney and a 12-year career at Merrill Lynch, including as a lawyer, Director in Equity Capital Markets and managing a Private Wealth Team.
Currently, Charlie is the President and CEO of Disability Opportunity Fund www.thedof.org a National Certified Community Development Financial Institution solely dedicated to advancing the needs of people with disabilities. He will bring to the Village Board of Atlantic Beach his extensive experience serving on various not-for-profit Boards of Directors and community activities, such as a member of the Long Island VOAD in response to Super Storm Sandy.
Charlie is a second-generation Atlantic Beach resident and looks forward to serving this great community in his new role.
Mayor George Pappas
